NADCAP Special Process Certification Guide
**I. Certification Overview**
NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program), initiated by global aerospace giants such as Boeing, Airbus, and COMAC, is managed by the Performance Review Institute (PRI). Unlike general quality system certifications like ISO9001 or AS9100, NADCAP focuses on high-risk critical processes in aerospace manufacturing and serves as a mandatory entry requirement for high-end manufacturing supply chains.
**Covered Special Processes**: Heat treatment, welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), chemical processing, surface treatment, composites, additive manufacturing, etc.
**II. Certification Process (Five Phases)**
**Phase 1: Preparation (2-4 months)**
• Define certification process scope
• Download NADCAP audit criteria (eTask platform AC7110 series checklist)
• Conduct internal self-audit (Self-Audit) to identify control gaps
• Improve process documentation, equipment calibration, personnel authorization, and record-keeping systems
• Existing AS9100 certification can significantly expedite the process
**Phase 2: EAN Platform Registration & Application (1-2 weeks + scheduling 2-6 months)**
• Register company information on PRI's official eAuditNet (EAN) platform
• Submit certification application, qualification documents, and system documentation list
• PRI provides audit quotation, confirms costs, and processes payment
• PRI assigns qualified auditors and schedules on-site audit dates
**Phase 3: On-site Audit (2-5 days)**
• Kickoff meeting: Auditor introduces audit purpose, scope, criteria, and schedule
• Document review: Compliance of system and process documentation
• Operational verification: Adherence to procedures, process parameter stability
• Personnel interviews: Understanding of processes and criteria
• Record traceability: Completeness and authenticity of production/testing/correction records
• Non-Conformance Report (NCR) issued with three severity levels: Major NCR / Minor NCR / Finding
**Phase 4: NCR Resolution & Final Audit (1-3 months)**
• Root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans
• Submit evidence (correction reports, revised documents, new records, validation reports)
• Auditor verifies resolution effectiveness
• Industry working group (OEM experts from Boeing, GE, etc.) conducts centralized review
• Major NCR failures may result in certification denial
**Phase 5: Certification Issuance (~1 week)**
• After approval by the working group, PRI issues NADCAP certification
• Company information added to Qualified Manufacturer List (QML) for global supply chain access
• Certificate confirms certified processes and initial surveillance cycle duration
